So, let’s go!
PROJECT SUMMARY
A MOCKUMENTARY JOURNEY ACROSS ICE BARCELONA

We are producing a mockumentary-style mini series for GR8 Tech at ICE Barcelona.

The series is shot in a real exhibition environment and combines scripted dialogue with observational, documentary-style camera work. The camera behaves as a silent observer, following the action naturally without staging or direct interaction with the lens.

The visual language is inspired by The Office: handheld camera, natural light, shooting in a crowd, spontaneous framing, and subtle humor emerging from realistic interactions.

Actors’ task:

Actors perform short scripted scenes while moving through the exhibition space. They interact only with each other and the environment, never with the camera. The performance should feel casual, conversational, and grounded — as if the moment is happening naturally in real life.

How we shoot:

The camera follows the characters in real time, occasionally moving over the shoulder or gently pushing in to highlight reactions. Slight camera drift and imperfections are intentional and support the documentary feel.

Goal:

To create the feeling of an insider’s, behind-the-scenes journey across ICE Barcelona — authentic, dynamic, and lightly humorous.

Format: Mockumentary-inspired mini series
This project combines:
  • Observational camera language
  • Scripted dialogues
  • Real exhibition environment
  • Documentary-style realism
  • Subtle humor through interactions
Goal:
To create the feeling of having an insider’s perspective at ICE Barcelona.

Visual Language
Dynamic handheld camera, natural light, and real exhibition surroundings shape the look of the series.
Camera as an Observer
To create the “hidden camera” effect:
  • The camera follows the action instead of staging it.
  • The operator remains a silent observer.
  • Framing feels spontaneous, even when the scene is prepared.
  • Characters interact with each other — not with the camera.
CAMERA MOVEMENT TECHNIQUES
1️⃣ Handheld Following

The camera follows characters in real time, creating a sense of presence and spontaneity. This technique makes the viewer feel like they are walking alongside the team.

2️⃣ Shoulder Tracking

Occasional over-the-shoulder framing enhances intimacy and places the audience inside the conversation rather than outside it.

3️⃣ Slow Push-In (Gentle Zoom / Move In)

Subtle camera movement toward a character is used to emphasize emotion, reaction, or a key line of dialogue without feeling dramatic or staged.

4️⃣ Natural Drift

The camera is allowed to slightly drift and adjust framing organically, reinforcing the documentary feeling of “being there.”
OUR LOCATION
Our main location is the GR8 Tech booth at ICE Barcelona.
All primary action will take place there.
We are shooting in a guerrilla style, working with minimal resources to execute the concept.

Our task on January 18 is to visit the location and select the camera angles where we will shoot the scenes.

In addition to the main location — the company booth — we will also film in other areas of the conference, possibly at the food court and in various queues around the venue.
